As reported by Bradley Chambers at 9to5mac, the company behind the Starling Home Hub has updated it to Version 5.0 that enables 2-way audio for Nest cameras in HomeKit.
If you are not aware of of this device, the Starling hub exposes your Nest devices to HomeKit, although this is not official support. But if you have a house full of Nest products like the Nest Thermostat, Nest Temperature Sensor, Nest Protect, Nest Cam Indoor/Outdoor/IQ and the Nest Yale Lock. Then using the Starling hub will give you HomeKit support.
But starting today, Version 5.0 of the firmware is now available for download today. In this release, Starling has added support for 2-way audio (talkback) for all Nest cameras. So you now can talk to people at your front door from the iOS Home app, or your Apple Watch.
Other features added to to Starling Home Hub 5.0 firmware is support for two-factor authentication, low battery alert for temperature sensors. You can check out Erik Welander’s impressions on the Starling Home Hub below in the YouTube Video below.
