Onvis has finally announced its HomeKit Secure Video enabled Smart Camera, the Onvis C3 is available to preorder for $72. Besides the camera supporting HSV at launch, it will also feature 1080p HD video at 30 fps, 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi and Starlight Night Vision.
The camera looks like most of the recently released smart cameras and features a white body and plastic cover for the lens. You can place the C3 on a surface or mount it to a wall or ceiling.
ONVIS C3 shoots 1080p HD video at 30 fps and a 134 FOV with a starlight CMOS sensor for night vision. The camera also supports 4 streamings, 1 for iCloud, 2 for live streamings and 1 for Micro SD recording. However, it’s not clear if the camera will come with its own app, so how you will access these recordings is not clear.
As already mentioned the Onvis C3 supports HomeKit Secure Video which uses your Apple TV, HomePod, or iPad to intelligently determines a person, animal, or vehicle. The camera also supports 2 way audio and 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi connectivity.
Price and thoughts
Onvis has listed the retail price as $89.99, but the company is offering a discount which brings the Onvis C3 down to $72.00. The camera will ship at the end of June on a first come basis.
Update – A reader has confirmed that Onvis are now allowing international orders. We have tested this for multiple destinations and it appears Onvis are charging in USD and applying a flat rate of $17 for shipping. Thanks Martin for the tip on this!
While this is an interesting camera, I can’t help to think they have overpriced it for what the camera offers. As it does not appear to have anywhere near the same features or AI motion detection found in the Eufy Indoor Camera. But It’s worth waiting for when the first reviews arrive to see how this camera performs.
