With just one week to go, before support for the legacy HomeKit architecture shuts down on February 10, 2026.
Apple first introduced its redesigned Apple Home architecture in late 2022, aiming to improve speed, reliability, and long term scalability. The initial rollout was pulled after early stability issues, before being re released in a more mature and dependable form months later.
Since then, Apple has allowed the old and new systems to coexist while encouraging users to upgrade. Most households have already made the move, but a small number are still running the legacy HomeKit setup.
Apple had originally planned to end support in fall 2025, before pushing the deadline to February 2026. According to MacRumors, Apple has now resumed emailing users to reinforce that the cutoff is final.
Upgrading only takes a few minutes through the Home app and requires all connected devices to be running modern software versions. Devices on older software will lose access until they are updated.
With Apple expected to expand its smart home lineup in 2026, the message is clear. One week to go, and upgrading to the new Apple Home architecture is no longer optional.
