Nanoleaf s being acquired by OneRobotics, the parent company behind SwitchBot

Nanoleaf s being acquired by OneRobotics, the parent company behind SwitchBot, in a deal valued at approximately $40 million. The acquisition will take place over the next two years and will see OneRobotics take full ownership of the smart lighting company. As part of the agreement, Nanoleaf co-founders Gimmy Shen Chu and Christian Yan will remain in place as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer respectively for at least three years following the initial closing of the transaction.

For Nanoleaf, the move could provide access to greater manufacturing capacity, supply chain efficiencies, and operational scale. The company has stated that it plans to leverage OneRobotics’ global manufacturing and distribution network to improve production capabilities and reduce costs.

Financial filings show that Nanoleaf generated approximately $30.9 million in revenue during 2025, up slightly from $29.7 million in 2024. Despite the growth, the company remained unprofitable, reporting a net loss of around $1.7 million in 2025, an improvement on the $6.4 million loss recorded the previous year.

Nanoleaf is best known for its smart lighting products, including its wall panels, light strips, and Matter-enabled lighting range, which have become popular among smart home enthusiasts. More recently, the company has expanded into wellness technology with products such as red light therapy panels and LED face masks.

SwitchBot has taken a broader approach to the smart home market, building a portfolio that now includes robot vacuums, smart locks, curtain motors, sensors, and hubs. Bringing the two brands together creates one of the more interesting combinations in the smart home industry, combining Nanoleaf’s expertise in smart lighting with SwitchBot’s growing ecosystem of connected home products.

Neither company has announced any new products or integrations as a result of the acquisition, but the deal could pave the way for closer collaboration between the two brands in the future. We’ll be keeping an eye on any developments as more details emerge.
