If you are not using HomeKit Secure Video with your cameras, then the standard HomeKit setup is basic. However, you can make things more manageable and add some cool features with the paid app called HomeCam 2.0.
Following on from the already popular HomeCam 1.0, HomeCam 2 for HomeKit is now available. The app features a brand new design, improved data layers and controls. You also get ability to manage cameras and show alerts.
Unlike the Home app, HomeCam allows you to watch multiple live feeds from HomeKit-supported cameras on one screen. HomeCam also gives you the ability to control HomeKit accessories in the same room as your camera.
With the 2.0 update, you also get the ability to show, hide, or rearrange your cameras. This feature is handy when you have multiple cameras. The new app also gets auto cycle for iOS, improved Data Layers, and a new today widget.
I am already a user of HomeCam 1.0 and already impressed with the improvement in the HomeCam 2.0. I particular enjoy being able to use it on my Apple TV to access my HomeKit cameras on the big screen.
HomeCam 2.0 is $4.99 on the App Store, and the onetime purchase allows for install on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. Existing users of HomeCam can upgrade to 2.0 for free.
