As part of a press release made yesterday to highlight the changes to the Eve App. The company has also confirmed they will release the Eve cam at the end of May. The new smart camera from Eve will work with its own App, but exclusively with HomeKit Secure Video.
The Eve Cam was first announced at CES 2020 and takes advantage of HomeKit Secure Video to deliver privacy and no data sharing or account registration. Changes made in the 4.2 of the Eve app allow for a new full-screen view. This makes it easy to adjust your camera’s audio settings and offers a convenient push to talk functionality built into the Eve Cam.
When the Eve Cam is released at the end of May, users will be able to view cameras easily in the “At a Glance” view. You will also be to view other features as part of the camera like motion sensors and when it last detected activity.
As privacy is the core of this camera, when at home you can disable all video features. But you can still use Eve Cam as a full-blown motion sensor to control your other HomeKit-enabled accessories.
Eve Cam release and price
The company has said the Eve Cam will start shipping end of May 2020 with a retail price of $149.99. Although it may face competition from the eufy Indoor camera, which is released at the same time at a lower price.
When the Eve Cam is released, we plan to get one in for review, so don’t forget to subscribe for when this lands. If you have a question or a comment, then leave it below. You can also follow us on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
