The new smart lock is 45 percent smaller in design, and does not need the hub as it uses Wi-FI to connect. Due the current footprint, the new device uses CR2 batteries, instead of more common AA’s found in the previous locks. August door locks are compatible with most single cylinder deadbolts.

As with previous models, the new August smart lock works with HomeKit through the Home app on an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch, or with Siri voice commands. For those interestet, the lock also supports Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, SimpliSafe, and Samsung SmartThings.

You can purchase the lock today from Best Buy at $250, although it looks like its already sold out. On May 17th, it will also be available at other major retailers in the US.
