Apple is preparing to unveil a significantly more personalised version of Siri in the second half of February, powered in part by Google Gemini, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Writing in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman says Apple is planning to announce the updated Siri in the second half of February, alongside live demonstrations of its new capabilities.
The upgraded assistant powered in part by Google Gemini is expected to arrive as part of iOS 26.4, which is scheduled to enter beta in February before a public release in March or early April. Based on Apple’s current hardware requirements for Apple Intelligence features, the new Siri should be available on iPhone 15 Pro models and newer.
New Siri capabilities in iOS 26.4
As previously outlined by Apple, this more advanced Siri will be able to draw on personal data and on screen content to complete tasks more intelligently. According to Gurman, the assistant will understand context across apps and information sources, allowing it to respond in ways that feel far more aware of the user’s activity and data.
Apple originally previewed this vision for Siri at WWDC 2024, where it demonstrated scenarios such as asking Siri about a family member’s flight details or lunch plans by pulling information directly from Mail and Messages. That release was later delayed, reportedly due to internal technical challenges.
Those challenges are said to have prompted Apple to incorporate Google Gemini technology into the new Siri experience. While the assistant will still run on Apple’s own Apple Intelligence models, Gemini’s underlying technology has reportedly been integrated to improve reasoning and response quality.
What this could mean for Apple Home hardware
The public release of a more capable Siri could also coincide with new Apple Home hardware, particularly devices that rely heavily on voice control and on device intelligence.
Apple has several long rumoured products that would benefit directly from a smarter, more context aware Siri. A HomePod mini 2 is widely expected, likely offering improved wireless performance, faster processing, and better support for Apple Intelligence features compared to the current model. A refreshed Apple TV 4K is also overdue.
More intriguingly, Apple is still believed to be working on a dedicated Apple smart home hub. Often described as a Home focused display or control centre, this device would make little sense without a major upgrade to Siri. A personalised assistant that understands routines, people, rooms, and on screen context would be a foundational requirement for such a product to feel useful rather than gimmicky.
If iOS 26.4 represents the first real step towards that vision, this could be a natural window for Apple to introduce new Home hardware built around this next generation Siri experience.
