A newly filed U.S. trademark for the name “HOMEOS” is sparking fresh speculation that Apple is preparing to launch a dedicated operating system for its smart home devices. The application, uncovered by Parker Ortolani, was submitted in April 2025—just weeks before Apple’s annual developer conference—hinting that an official announcement could be imminent.
The filing comes from “Home Operations Suite LLC,” a likely shell company Apple is using to mask its involvement—an approach the tech giant frequently uses to discreetly secure new product names. Interestingly, the U.S. application traces back to an earlier trademark registered in Liechtenstein in October 2024, a known tactic Apple employs to avoid early detection.
The trademark spans two international classes:
