Tedee smart lock gains HomeKit support

tedee has announced that is smart lock now supports HomeKit via a firmware update. This update allows the tedee smart lock to be controlled from the Home App, automations and Siri voice commands.

The tedee smart lock is a retrofit option and integration with HomeKit is possible without the need for the tedee smart bridge.

Tedee is making HomeKit available for new and existing hardware and the process to enable is slightly different for each scenario.

Existing lock customers :

  • Open the tedee app.
  • Select your lock and open its settings page.
  • Scroll down and select the “HomeKit” option.
  • If you see a system pop-up with a question to allow the app’s access to your home data, press OK.
  • Select the “Add to the Apple Home app” button.
  • Adding to HomeKit process will start, just follow all steps
  • Now the lock is ready to use from the tedee app and Home app.

New locks:

  • Open tedee app and login.
  • Select Menu > “Add new device” > “Add new device” button.
  • Scan tedee activation QR code and follow steps in the app.
  • On the last step, you will see a HomeKit slider – turn it on.
  • Adding to HomeKit process will start, just follow all steps
  • Now the lock is ready to use from the tedee app and Home app.
