HomeKit support for IKEA smart blinds started to roll out to US customers just over 2 weeks ago. However, EU customers are still waiting for the update to enable Apple’s smart home platform.
However, following 2 weeks of radio silence from Ikea about the HomeKit roll out to European customers. The official UK Ikea Twitter account has broken its silence to confirm HomeKit support for its smart blinds is delayed due to a technical issue. This news means that the company’s FYRTUR and KADRILJ blinds will not be getting HomeKit support anytime soon.
“Hi there, due to some technical issues with the latest update that was launched in the USA. We have had to delay rolling this update out within the EU until these issues have been fixed. We currently do not have a date for this but our team is working on this. Thanks, Jamie.”
This news will no doubt disappointing to EU users of the Ikea smart blinds hoping for HomeKit support. But based on several Reddit posts, it would appear that the update has been causing multiple issues.
If you want to get an idea how the HomeKit support works. You can checkout this YouTube video or this hands on. But despite the halt to the roll out, I am facing no issues.
I have reached out to Ikea for further comment and when I hear back, I will update this article. So don’t forget to subscribe for more information on HomeKit support. If you have a question or a comment, then leave it below. You can also follow us on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
