Although the Aqara water leak sensor which is compatible with HomeKit, has been available for some time via other market places. Aqara has not launched the water leak sensor via its official Amazon store in the US, starting today.
The Aqara Water Leak Sensor uses Zigbee to communicate with the Aqara Hub. When the water level raises above 0.5mm, the device will activate the alarm built into the Aqara Hub. You will also get a notification to your smart device via the Aqara and Home App. The Aqara Water Leak Sensor uses a CR2032 battery and Aqara claims it should last up to 2 years under normal use.
Because the Water Leak Sensor connects via the Aqara Hub, it is exposed to HomeKit. So you can view the sensor and include it in automations as you desire. We reviewed the water leak sensor and you can read the written version or watch a video of it in action on our YouTube Channel.
