Nanoleaf launches affordable Matter-compatible Smart Multicolor Ceiling Light

Nanoleaf has unveiled its new Smart Multicolor Ceiling Light, bringing Matter support and dynamic colour lighting to a more affordable ceiling fixture.

Designed with a dual-lighting system, the ceiling light combines a powerful downward-facing main light with an upward-facing backlight. Both lighting zones can be controlled independently, allowing users to switch between bright functional lighting and softer ambient illumination, or combine the two for a layered lighting effect.

Inside the fixture are 196 LEDs capable of producing up to 2,600 lumens of brightness. The white light can be adjusted between a warm 2,200K and a cool 6,500K, making it suitable for everything from relaxing evenings to brighter daytime lighting. Nanoleaf also says the light features RG0 Low Blue Light technology, designed to minimise blue light exposure and help reduce eye strain.

For colour lighting, the Smart Multicolor Ceiling Light features 28 individually addressable colour zones, enabling animated gradients and dynamic lighting effects across millions of colours. Nanoleaf also claims a high Colour Rendering Index (CRI) of 95, helping colours appear more natural and accurate.

The fixture measures 13.8 inches in diameter and just 1.18 inches thick. It is designed as a hard-wired installation using a standard light switch, although it can also be paired with the Nanoleaf Sense+ Wireless Smart Switch for additional control.

Apple Home and Matter support

The Smart Multicolor Ceiling Light supports Matter over Wi-Fi, making it compatible with Apple Home, alongside other Matter-enabled smart home platforms. Once added to Apple Home, users can control the light through the Home app, Siri and automations.

Users should note that while Apple Home supports the light’s basic controls, including brightness, colour and colour temperature, advanced gradient effects and multi-zone lighting scenes require the Nanoleaf app. This is because Apple Home does not currently support individually addressable colour zones or gradient lighting effects.

Through the Nanoleaf app, users also gain access to hundreds of preset lighting scenes, custom animations and music synchronisation features.
