First announced at CES 2026, Aqara has officially launched the Multi-State Sensor P100, a new compact sensor designed to go well beyond traditional door and window sensors.
Where most sensors simply tell you if something is open or closed, the P100 introduces a multi-state approach. It can detect movement, tilt, vibration, and position changes, making it far more versatile for real-world smart home use.
More than just open and close
Unlike standard contact sensors that rely on magnets, the P100 uses a combination of internal sensors including an accelerometer, gyroscope, and geomagnetic sensor.
This allows it to:
• Detect movement and vibration
• Track tilt and orientation in 3D space
• Monitor if an object has been moved or tampered with
• Still function as a traditional open and close sensor
This shift means you are not limited to doors and windows. You can place it on drawers, packages, equipment, or anything where movement or position matters.
Two modes depending on your setup
The P100 includes two operating modes:
• Object Monitoring Mode
Tracks movement, tilt, vibration, and position changes
• Open and Close Mode
Works like a standard contact sensor for doors and windows
You can only use one mode at a time, but switching between them is quick in the Aqara app.
Matter, Thread and Zigbee support
The P100 is built around Matter, so it works with major platforms including Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings.
It supports two connection types:
• Thread (Matter native)
Direct connection to platforms like Apple Home with fast response and low power usage
• Zigbee (via Aqara hub)
Unlocks more detailed data and advanced features within the Aqara ecosystem
As with most Matter devices today, some advanced sensor data may appear simplified when viewed through platforms like Apple Home.
Simple setup with detailed tracking
Installation is straightforward with a peel and stick design, so you can place it almost anywhere.
Additional features include:
• 10 levels of sensitivity adjustment
• Configurable reporting intervals from 5 seconds to 5 minutes
• Event history with visual charts in the Aqara app
These logs allow you to track patterns over time, such as repeated movement or unexpected activity.
Pricing and availability
The Aqara Multi-State Sensor P100 is available now for £29.99 in the UK and $29.99 in the US in White and Grey, with Amazon availability expected to follow in May.
