Eve Home has announced the launch of a second-generation version of its Eve Motion sensor with Thread support. The new motion sensor is one of the last products in the Eve lineup to be updated to popular wireless standard for HomeKit users.
The New Eve Motion sensor is a little smaller at 65 x 65 x 34 mm and includes an integrated light sensor. As well as being able to connect to Thread as an end point sleepy device, it can also connect to Bluetooth as a backup. Eve Motion is powered with two replaceable AAA batteries and is IPX3 water resistance so it can stand up to splashes of water and rain.
The Motion sensor as a 120-degree field of view which can detect motion within a nine meter range. The new light sensor, the Eve Motion can detect motion and changes in lighting to activate HomeKit devices.
HomeKit, Thread and Matter
As with other Eve Devices, the new Eve Motion supports HomeKit over Thread out of the box. But to take advantage of Thread connectivity, you need to be using a HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K.The Eve Motion sensor will also support the upcoming smart home protocol Matter when it launchs later this year.
The second-generation Eve Motion is priced at $40 and it can be purchased from the Eve website starting today.
