Based on a forum post, it looks like Aqara will launch an affordable HomeKit Secure Video camera later this year. The company’s long-awaited, Aqara G2H camera will support Apple’s privacy focused HSV feature standard from launch.
First reported by HomeKit News yesterday, the G2H camera is said to be launched near Q1 of 2020. Now coupled with HomeKit Secure Video and expected low entry price. This HomeKit Enabled camera will be a good option for those on a budget wanting HSV support.
Aqara posted the update on HSV on their forum, with the company stating;
“G2H is supposed to be launched later this year (2020). It will support HomeKit Secure Video and will not be limited by Mi Home app. Aqara Home and Apple Home will be also supported.”
Aqara product launches can be hit and miss, plus coupled with other companies promising HomeKit support. I am taking this information with a pinch of salt until it actually arrives. However, What we do know is that the G2H is likely to have 1080p video and include an SD card for local capture.
The Logitech Circle 2 cameras was the first to get HomeKit Secure Video, followed by the Netatmo smart indoor camera. Both cameras offering Apple’s latest privacy feature will help boost HomeKit security.
