Mighton, the company behind the Avia Secure Smart Lock has set a release date for their HomeKit compatible smart lock. They will show off there in January at CES 2020 and is one of the more expected smart home accessories for HomeKit users in the UK.
The AVIA smart lock will support multi-point locking systems, being one of the few smart locks to offer support for this lock. In UK and Europe, Multi-point locking systems are popular it fitted to most UPVC and composite doors.
Back in May at Fitshow UK, I had the chance to get some hands Avia Secure Smart Lock, which you can read over at activejr.com. But in the main the hardware seemed solid, but the software needed more work based on my limited time.
The Avia smart lock with HomeKit support will come with the following features;
- Works with Bluetooth 5.0, strong connection stability and maximum Bluetooth range
- In the unlikely event of any outage, you can still use your existing manual key
- Has an IP rating of IP54
- Provides a complete audit trail of lock activity
- Designed and tested PAS 24:2016 standard
- Heavy-Duty Zinc castings
- Protected against ‘man in the middle’ attacks
- Secure Apple HomeKit encryption
- Password strength protocol
- Lock status alerts

Security standards
As part of its certification process, the company recently announced 2 security standards that they had achieved. First, the lock has become the first-ever smart lock to have its mechanical security approved by Sold Secure. This is the UK’s Premier test & certification company. To add to the Avia security credentials, they presented Mighton with the BSI (British Standards Institute) Internet Security Certificate, which is a world first!
Pricing is unknown for the AVIA smart lock, but I am told it will be “inline with competitor products.” But we only have a few weeks to wait to find out the pricing at CES. Once the Avia smart lock is launched, I will carry out a full review.
