SwitchBot releases its Matter Ai hub

SwitchBot’s AI Hub is now on sale with it’s a next gen smart home brain built around local AI, wide device support, and Matter bridging, aiming to sit at the centre of your automations, camera feeds, and cross platform control.

The headline feature is on device AI. SwitchBot says it uses a built in Vision Language Model and local processing, so it can analyse camera visuals and trigger automations without leaning entirely on the cloud.

On the camera side, the hub can work with SwitchBot cameras and doorbells, plus other RTSP sources, with automations tied to what the cameras see. Some of the “advanced” AI tools start with a free trial, then move to subscription options.SwitchBot AI Hub and Matter

SwitchBot claims it can manage more than 100 SwitchBot devices and up to eight 2K camera feeds, with RTSP streaming and local storage. It reportedly includes 32GB onboard storage, expandable up to 1TB via USB C for local recording.

Apple Home

For Apple Home users, the key is Matter. The AI Hub works as a Matter bridge, pulling compatible SwitchBot devices into Apple Home, as well as Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, and Home Assistant. Connectivity includes extended Bluetooth and dual band Wi Fi.

One Apple Home reality check: even though the hub is camera aware, SwitchBot cameras are not currently exposed into Apple Home via the hub. That likely changes only when both sides fully support newer Matter camera features, such as Matter 1.5.
