Onvis contact sensor with Thread now available for Pre-order

Onvis has released an updated version of its HomeKit contact sensor with Thread support that it promised would arrive back in May 2022. Well when I say released, its available for preorder from Amazon and will start shipping on the 1st January in the US.

The Onvis CT3 is a two-part device that includes a main unit with all the smarts and smaller, unit which features a magnet. Its single CR2450 coin battery offers up to 12 months of battery power.

While I don’t have the device myself and it’s unlikely I will review. Looking at Shane Whatleys Instagram post. The main unit appears rather large and while Onvis have shrunk the logo compared to the previous Bluetooth model. Onvis has stuck the HomeKit code on the front and it looks ugly. So if you are looking for something a little less discrete, then this may not be the product for you.

Eve Home is currently the only company on the market that offers a Thread enabled Contact sensor. But this is priced at $39.99 for a single product, but this also works with Matter via its Beta early access programme, and much smaller

You can pre-order the CT3 is selling for US$29.99, or US$45.99 for a double pack. today from Amazon. The product will start shipping 1st Janaury and no word on a EU launch. But I would personally wait until we see a number of reviews out.
