Apple is making its Formula 1 coverage on Apple TV even more immersive, with Dolby Atmos support arriving in time for the U.S. Grand Prix weekend on October 23.
The upgrade will see Dolby Atmos join the existing Dolby Vision support, combining enhanced picture quality with spatial audio designed to put viewers closer to the action.
Fans with supported devices will be able to hear more of the atmosphere surrounding a race, from the roar of the cars and battles on track to team radio, commentary and the activity inside the pit lane.
Apple says sound is a major part of what makes Formula 1 exciting, and adding Dolby Atmos is another step towards recreating the intensity of being at a Grand Prix for viewers at home.
For now, Apple TV’s Formula 1 coverage remains available exclusively in the U.S. However, the races are included with a standard Apple TV subscription, with no separate Formula 1 subscription required.
