IKEA BILRESA receives update to Matter 1.4

For anyone having issues with the IKEA BILRESA button remote, an update has landed in the last 24 hours. Firmware version 1.9.15 is now rolling out and while IKEA hasn’t published any official release notes yet, it appears the remote has now been updated to support Matter 1.4.

Early reports are also suggesting improved stability and better compliance with the Matter specification, which could help resolve some of the responsiveness and connectivity issues users have been seeing.

  • To update click the 3 dots in the top right
  • Then Home Settings
  • Then scroll down to Software Update
  • Then Update

If the update isn’t showing in Apple Home yet, try restarting your primary home hub. Some users are also reporting the update appears sooner through platforms like Home Assistant.

Interesting to see IKEA continuing to improve its Matter over Thread lineup after the rocky launch earlier this year
