Govee release the Ceiling Light Ultra

After teasing new concepts earlier this year at CES 2026, Govee has now launched one of its most eye catching products to date, the Govee Ceiling Light Ultra. Rather than acting as just another overhead light, this new fixture is designed to turn your ceiling into something far more dynamic. With a focus on animation, customisation, and high output everyday lighting. The new ceiling light supports Matter and Apple Home

Features

At the core of the Ceiling Light Ultra is a dense LED matrix made up of 616 individually addressable LEDs. This is not a traditional circular ceiling light. Instead, Govee has gone with a flat panel design that behaves more like a display, allowing it to render patterns, animations, and even more detailed visual effects with far greater clarity than older smart lighting panels. To make this easier to use, Govee has introduced its AI Lighting Bot 2.0 within the companion app. Rather than manually building scenes, you can generate effects by simply typing what you want. The system then creates animations at a pixel level, lowering the barrier to entry for more advanced lighting setups.

Despite all of this focus on creativity, the Ceiling Light Ultra is still designed to function as a primary light source. It delivers up to 5,000 lumens, which is more than enough for medium sized rooms, and includes dual white lighting systems to ensure consistent and natural illumination. Colour accuracy is also a key focus, with a CRI of 95. In simple terms, that means colours in your room appear much closer to how they would under natural daylight, something that is often overlooked in more decorative smart lighting products.

Govee has also introduced a feature called DaySync. This automatically adjusts brightness and colour temperature throughout the day, shifting from warmer tones in the morning and evening to cooler, brighter light during the day. The aim is to create a more natural lighting environment without requiring manual schedules.

Matter and Apple Home

The Ceiling Light Ultra supports Matter over 2.4 GHz WiFi, specifically using the Matter 1.3 specification. In practical terms, this means it can integrate with major smart home platforms, including Apple Home.

However, as with many Matter devices right now, there are some limitations. You will get the core controls such as power, brightness, colour, and colour temperature, but more advanced features remain locked to Govee’s own app. This includes things like AI generated animations and some of the more dynamic lighting effects.

Availability

The Govee Ceiling Light Ultra is now available through Govee’s official store and online retailers, including Amazon, with a launch price of $249.99.
