Xiaomi has officially expanded its smart home lineup with the launch of the Xiaomi Self-Install Smart Lock, a retrofit-friendly smart locking solution designed to modernise ordinary doors without complex installation or expensive professional setup. Easy, No-Drill Installation
The retrofit design supports multiple popular lock cylinder types – including Euro profile, UK mortise, and ASSA 2000. Rather than replacing your entire door lock or engaging a locksmith, Xiaomi’s design fits over standard lock mechanisms and can be mounted without drilling or structural modification. That means minimal disruption to your existing door setup and a potential game-changer for renters or DIY-minded homeowners.
The kit includes both the smart lock module and an accompanying keypad, which together provide a range of flexible unlocking options to suit different needs and preferences.
Multiple Unlocking Methods for Modern Living
Xiaomi has equipped the Self-Install Smart Lock with a variety of ways to unlock your door — from traditional to high-tech:

Smart Home Integration and Connectivity
The Self-Install Smart Lock is designed for modern connected homes. It supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing seamless control and status checks through the Xiaomi Home app. This includes real-time updates, lock logs and smart notifications when someone arrives or when certain security events occur.
Perhaps most notably and important to Apple Home users, Xiaomi has integrated support for the Matter over WiFi support which means it will work with Apple Home, Google Home and others. Unfortunately based on the information supplied by Xiaomi the new smart lock will not support Apple Home Key or UWB unlocking.
Security and Battery Life
The smart lock is powered by a 2450 mAh lithium-ion battery, offering up to six months of regular use on a single charge. It also comes with advanced protections including real-time alerts for duress unlocks, multiple failed attempts, and auto-locking when the door sensor detects the door has closed.
The product has been certified to meet European cybersecurity standards, ensuring that both hardware and software protections are robust and resilient against tampering.
Availability
It’s not available to buy on Xiaomi’s official website. But you can pick it up from select retailers for around €150. We don’t yet know when it will launch in the UK. It’s also .rolling out in select markets including Asia and the Middle East.
