Arlo Pro 3 floodlight camera gets HomeKit support

Arlo has rolled out HomeKit support for the new Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight cam. The Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Cam was first announced at the start of 2020 with an impressive feature set.

The Arlo floodlight cam features a wire free design, meaning it can run on rechargeable batteries, but it can be mains powered. It captures footage in 2K resolution video and colour night vision. Other features include built-in LED floodlight, capable of out up to 3,000 lumens. It also comes with a siren, motion detection, two-way audio, 160° field of view.

But now Arlo has released HomeKit support, the motion sensor, two-way communication, and the light are exposed to HomeKit. You can also adjust the LED brightness, allowing users to change the brightness of the LED panel. It is worth noting, the Arlo Cam will only stream at 1080P in the Home App, because of the limitations of HomeKit.

The Arlo Pro 2 Floodlight cam also features cloud storage up to 30 days, people, animal and vehicles detection. In addition, you can set motion zones and package detection. Although it is worth mentioning that these features cost from $2.99 for one camera up to $14.99 for 5 cameras.

While users will welcome HomeKit support, but this does not stretch to HomeKit Secure Video, and it seems unlikely it ever will because of the paid smart plans offered by Arlo.

Pricing US and UK

The Arlo Floodlight cam is priced at $249.99 in the US today and you can pre-order for £258.99 in the UK, shipping 31st August. Which is cheaper than the recently released Netatmo Smart outdoor camera with siren. Although, with the Netatmo you do not need an extra subscription for storage, advanced motion detection and motion zones. Plus, if Netatmo follow through on their promise of support for HSV. Then the overall cost of ownership was balance out over a year.
