eufyCam 2 now supports HomeKit Secure Video – UPDATE

Anker has begun a firmware update to its eufyCam 2 that brings HomeKit Secure Video. The update available for free, which gives users the ability to use Apples privacy focused smart camera storage feature.

Update – The original source of this news has confirmed that this update was pushed out by eufy by mistake.

Unfortunately, it looks like the eufyCam 2 HomeKit Secure Video update was pushed out to some users “by mistake”. The feature is still in the certification phase though so it should be coming soon. From what I have seen on my cameras, everything is working as expected so far.

The update which was first spotted by iMore, follows on from when support was first promised during WWDC 2019 The update which is rolling out to eufyCam 2 owners any updates the firmware version 2.5.9 and Subsystem version 1.0.64.20200227.

While eufy has not publicly announced the rollout, users on Reddit are saying this is only a Beta version. What is more strange is that the release notes do not refer to HomeKit Secure being part of the update? Another unknown is wherever the eufyCam 2C will get the update.

We have reached out to both Anker and eufy for comment and will update the article if we hear from them. So don’t forget to subscribe to for more HomeKit news. If you have a question or a comment, then leave it below. You can also follow us on TwitterFacebookYouTube and Instagram.
