eero mesh router now supports HomeKit

Amazon has released an update to its eero mesh routers to bring Apple HomeKit support. This update will help with lock down many of the connected devices we have in our homes, like light bulbs, thermostats, plugs, and door locks.

Smart home devices can access any other device in your home, and any website or service on the internet, without your permission or knowledge. This means a single device could put your entire home at risk. But with the new Homekit router support for eero mesh Wi-Fi devices, users will get greater control within the Home App with the following controls to manage settings;

  • No Restriction: The HomeKit accessory can connect to any internet service or local device without restrictions.
  • Automatic: This setting allows the accessory to connect to an automatic list o manufacturer-approved internet services and local devices.
  • Restrict to Home: Only allows the accessory to connect to your home hub. This could prevent firmware updates or remote control via the devices native app.

  1. I cannot get my HomekIt to work with my Eero mesh wifi system running software 3.20.0. I have tried following the directions dozens of times, uninstalling the app on the Home Hub iPad and reinstalling, signing out of iCloud then signing back in, I get to the point it asks me to join my wifi network and I already am joined then push join button and then nothing I hit setup Homekit and it takes me to Apple home app and I try to add accessory but the error says to install from manufacturer’s app where I just came from, an endless circle. I have tried shutting down the network, shutting down iPad, restarting both, is there another setting on the eero router to enable that I am missing. Everything on iPad is upto date running 14.0.1 iOS so I don’t know what is happening, everything on internet says the Homekit will discover the routers and I will configure them but it isn’t happening.
