LG to release 8K TV’s with HomeKit and AirPlay 2 support

LG today announced its 2020 8K TV lineup featuring eight new TVs in sizes ranging from 65 inches to 88 inches, all of which support will support HomeKit and AirPlay 2.

LG says that all the TVs exceed the official 8K Ultra HD definition set by the Consumer Technology Association. The new TVs work with Apple ‌HomeKit‌ and ‌AirPlay‌ 2. Which means they can stream content from iOS devices and Mac’s via AirPlay. Users will also be able to add the TV’s to HomeKit for control in Apple’s Home App.

The 2020 lineup will feature a new AI processor that takes advantage of deep learning for optimized picture and sound quality. The TVs can recognize faces and text on the screen. Which will enable the TV to fine tune and sharpening for natural skin tones.

This is not the first time that LG TV’s have supported HomeKit as it first introduced support in its 2019 range. However, as some will remember, this also caused a stir with no support for previous gen TV’s.

LG will show off its 8K TV lineup at the Consumer Electronics Show. Which will kick off next week between 7th and 11th and January in Las Vegas.
