Eve has expanded support for its Matter-enabled smart home products to work with Homey. Homey Pro and Homey Pro mini act as both Matter Controllers and Thread Border Routers, allowing Eve’s Matter-over-Thread devices to connect directly to the Homey ecosystem.
The partnership brings together two platforms that put a strong emphasis on local smart home control. Eve says its devices operate locally through Homey, meaning automations and device control can continue even if the internet connection is unavailable.
Which Eve devices work with Homey?
The current list of supported Eve products includes:
- Eve Door & Window
- Eve Energy – Australia, Europe, UK and US & Canada
- Eve Energy Outdoor
- Eve Energy Outlet – US & Canada
- Eve Light Switch – US & Canada
- Eve Motion
- Eve MotionBlinds
- Eve Thermo
- Eve Thermostat
- Eve Weather
Homey Flow Cards are also available for Eve devices, allowing them to be used in automations involving energy management, security, heating and other smart home products.
Another benefit of Matter
The announcement is particularly interesting for Apple Home users, given Eve’s long history with Apple’s smart home platform.
Thanks to Matter’s multi-admin capabilities, compatible Eve devices aren’t restricted to a single smart home ecosystem. This means users can potentially continue using their Eve devices in Apple Home while also bringing them into Homey for its more advanced Flow automations and wider range of integrations.
It’s another good example of what Matter is supposed to deliver: buying a smart home device without having to commit that device to one ecosystem.
