Aqara has officially launched the Thermostat Hub W200, its first thermostat designed specifically for the North American market. First unveiled at CES 2026, the W200 positions itself as more than just a thermostat, combining climate control, smart home automation, and energy optimisation into a single device. The thermostat supports Apple Home Apple Home and Adaptive Temperature controls
Features
The Thermostat Hub W200 is designed as a smart home controller, bringing together climate management, automation, and spatial awareness. At its core, the W200 introduces advanced presence based intelligence using an integrated mmWave radar sensor. This allows it to detect not just motion, but actual presence just like the FP300, meaning it can respond even when someone is sitting still. The thermostat can automatically adjust temperatures based on occupancy, helping balance comfort and efficiency without manual input.
It also acts as a central smart home interface. The built in 4 inch touchscreen serves as a control panel for the wider Aqara ecosystem, including security devices. When paired with Aqara doorbells and smart locks, users can view doorbell snapshots and unlock doors directly from the screen.
Beyond this, the W200 supports zone based climate control when paired with additional sensors such as the Climate Sensor W100 or Presence Sensor FP300. This allows temperature adjustments to be prioritised in specific rooms, delivering a more tailored and responsive environment than a traditional single point thermostat.
Apple Home and Adaptive Temperature
The thermostat is among the first to support Adaptive Temperature and Clean Energy Guidance in Apple Home. These features allow the system to intelligently adjust heating and cooling based on user behaviour and energy conditions. Adaptive Temperature uses signals from devices like iPhone, Apple Watch, HomePod, and Apple TV to determine whether users are home, asleep, or away. The system then automatically adjusts the indoor climate to match those patterns.
Clean Energy Guidance takes this a step further by aligning heating and cooling with cleaner energy periods on the local grid. By making small, intelligent adjustments, the system can reduce environmental impact while maintaining comfort.
The W200 also supports Matter, enabling compatibility across multiple platforms including Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, and Homey. This ensures that households using different ecosystems can still interact with the device seamlessly.
Connectivity and compatibility
The Aqara Thermostat Hub W200 features dual band Wi Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), ensuring stable performance even in congested network environments.
Built with Thread and Zigbee support, the W200 functions as a Matter hub capable of managing over 50 device types from both Aqara and third-party Matter-enabled manufacturers.
From an installation perspective, it is built for North American HVAC systems, supporting a wide range including furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, and PTAC units. However, a C wire is required for some installs, with an adapter sold separately.
Availability and Pricing
The Aqara Thermostat Hub W200 is available now in North America, priced at $159.99, with a separate C wire adapter available for $29.99. It is being sold through Aqara’s website, Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, and other retail channels.
