Apple Removes iTunes Movies and TV Shows Apps in tvOS 26.4 Beta 1

With the release of tvOS 26.4 Beta 1, Apple has finally pulled the plug on the standalone iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps on Apple TV.

Apple actually began phasing out the old iTunes apps back in 2023. The separate apps were kept around to point people in the right direction and to give access to existing iTunes Wish Lists.

Anyone who still had an iTunes Wish List has been emailed by Apple to let them know the feature is being retired. In those emails, Apple includes links and guidance on moving saved titles over to the Apple TV app’s Watchlist instead.

Although they also phased out the Apple Events App and this still appears on Apple TV. The Apple Events App was used to stream Apple Events, but those streams also moved to the Apple TV app too.

No more separate iTunes storefront apps. No more legacy wish lists. Just the Apple TV app as the single place to buy, manage, and watch your content.
