Schlage announces smart Lock with Ultra Wide band support

At CES 2025, Schlage has introduced an ultra-wideband (UWB) smart lock. UWB is a frequency designed to pinpoint the exact location of a device, offering a more precise approach to smart locking.

Unlike Bluetooth, which can unlock doors prematurely as you approach, potentially raising security concerns, Schlage’s Sense Pro smart deadbolt uses UWB to ensure accuracy. The lock connects to an authorised phone, calculating its speed, motion, and trajectory to unlock only when you’re directly in front of the door. This means no early unlocks or frustrating delays—perfect for scenarios like juggling groceries in the rain or managing a sleepy toddler.

The Sense Pro also supports Matter over Thread, works with NFC for locking and unlocking, and features a keypad for those who prefer restricted access options. Schlage has also announced a 2025 update to its app, promising a more streamlined and user-friendly experience.

But you’ll need to wait a bit longer. Details on pricing and a release date are expected later in 2025. Stay tuned for updates!
