Apple released the iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, and macOS Ventura 13.1 betas and for the first time introduce the new HomeKit architecture upgrade. This upgrade was first mentioned at WWDC22 and promises to bring performance and stability upgrades.
Only recently Apple introduced iOS16.1 that brings Matter support for its smart home platform. But Apple says the HomeKit Architecture it brings faster, more reliable performance, especially for smart homes with a lot of smart accessories installed.
Before users will be be able to update the HomeKit architecture, they will require all Apple HomePod devices to be running 16.2. Additionally, any device like iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV or Mac that access the home to be using the latest software.
Currently, the Beta builds of 16.2 are only available to developers and I would recommend holding off installing until the public release is out. While updating to Beta builds can introduce problems, I would recommend double caution because of the changes involved.
