ADT to to launch HomeKit video doorbell?

It would seem that ADT the home security company may plan to release a HomeKit Video doorbell soon. This is after electronics manufacturer Sercomm applied for approval for what looks to be a HomeKit enabled video doorbell. Twitter user Jimmy Hawkins yesterday spotted the doorbell in an FCC filing with a model number of SCD2RO-29.

The doorbell design is like other manufactures that have released smart connected Doorbells. They locate the camera near the top of the doorbell along with what looks to be a motion sensor in the middle of the case. At the very bottom of the case, one would assume the actual doorbell button.ADT Video doorbell HomeKit case

The smart doorbell does not seem to feature a backup battery like other models on the market. But there is a micro-USB port, the need to charge it rather than it being mains supplied.

However, for fans of HomeKit it is the label in the FCC filing which features a HomeKit code. This code is a requirement of all HomeKit products to connect them to the Apple smart eco system.ADT Video doorbell HomeKit label

In terms of timeline for release and with CES2020 just a few weeks away. We could see an announcement from ADT about its new HomeKit enabled Video Doorbell then. Keeping checking to HomeKit Authority for more news and we will of course keep you updated.
